PE teacher murder: no arrest yet

No arrests have been made following the abduction and murder of Port Elizabeth teacher Jayde Panayiotou‚ 28‚ despite reports claiming that suspects were taken into custody.

This was confirmed by police spokesman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg late on Wednesday afternoon.

“No arrests have been made contrary to what is being said by some media. This is simply not true. We are contacting these media houses to rectify this‚” Van Rensburg said.

Panayiotou disappeared just minutes after talking to a close friend at about 6.30am on Tuesday. Her body was recovered at about 10am on Wednesday morning in an isolated area near Kwanobuhle township in Uitenhage.
