A man was arrested after he was seen trying to dump a corpse into a stormwater drain in Newtown, Johannesburg, on Sunday, Gauteng police said.
Police patrolling the area at 3am were stopped by a motorist who told them he saw a man trying to put something into the drain, Warrant Officer Xoli Mbele said.
"A swift response by the police found a male busy pushing a person inside the drain. The deceased had multiple injuries on his body."
The victim was wearing a red jersey and estimated to be in his 30s.
The 24-year-old man would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on a murder charge soon.
