Man killed by JHB metro cops

"The officers stopped a car in a routine check up when another man passed them, carrying a gun in his hand. The officers ordered him to stop but he pointed a firearm at them. Both officers fired shots at him."

Two Johannesburg metro police officers shot and killed a man in Jeppestown on Monday, spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.

"The officers stopped a car in a routine check up when another man passed them, carrying a gun in his hand. The officers ordered him to stop but he pointed a firearm at them. Both officers fired shots at him."

Minnaar said the man died at the scene.

He said it was later established that the gunman was kicked out of a tavern by bouncers for carrying a firearm.
