Khuli Chana receives message of support from North West premier

Khuli Chana, a former Mahikeng resident received a message of support from North West premier Thandi Modise wishing him a speedy recovery.

"We hope that the circumstances surrounding the incident will be investigated. Chana is an inspiration to the people of the North West... he represents excellence in the field of the arts," she said.

Multiple award winning rapper and former member of Morafe, Khuli Chana was shot after allegedly being mistaken for a suspect by cops in Johannesburg.

According to various reports, the ‘cops’ who are responsible for the incident were driving an unmarked vehicle when they fired bullets at the rapper’s vehicle in the early hours of Monday morning.

Spokesperson Sheila Afari told SABC news that the ‘Tswa Daar’ singer sustained injuries to his back and finger when cops allegedly fired six shots at his car while he was on his way to a performance in Midrand.

“He had made a stop at the Caltex garage in New Road for coffee,” Afari said.

“Cops just recklessly shot at him. Six shots were taken and he was hit on the back and finger.”

“Khuli did not run away when the police started shooting, he was baffled by what was happening, it's quiet tragic,” she added.

Fortunately the hit-maker has been released from hospital and currently recovering at home.

Chana and team are opening a case of attempted murder. The police officers who were involved in the shooting will reportedly be facing charges.
