A Johannesburg man was arrested on Monday for throwing bricks at seven cars travelling on the N1 freeway in Florida, west of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said.
The 30-year-old man was detained around 9.40am, Captain Lydia Dikolomela said.
"When a metro police official tried to apprehend him he threw bricks and stones at him and his patrol vehicle.
"It is alleged that he was also chasing people along the freeway."
Additional police back-up was called to arrest him.
The man was charged with malicious damage to property, he would appear in the Roodeport Magistrate's Court soon.
