Zuma concludes Nigeria visit

President Jacob Zuma concluded his working visit to Nigeria on Wednesday, the presidency said.

"President Zuma held discussions with the Nigerian President... Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja," spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

"The two presidents reaffirmed the good mutual relations between the two countries and confirmed Nigeria's incoming official visit to South Africa by president Jonathan next month."

Some of the matters discussed by the two heads of state were the situation in Mali and the Central African Republic, as well as general security in Africa, said Maharaj.

Zuma and Jonathan shared ideas on how Africa could do things better to achieve a stable, peaceful and democratic continent.

"[They also discuss] matters that emerge from time to time, such as the growing trend of using unconstitutional means to acquire governance and then seek to legitimise such governments through the AU [African Union] and other bodies."

Zuma was accompanied by International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane.
