Prayer for Moloto Road safety

VELLY Mgidi, a 37-year-old mother of Moloto village outside Pretoria, says she is struggling to put food on the table since her husband died in a car accident on the infamous Moloto Road five months ago.

Mgidi is one of many community members who gathered next to Moloto Road in Moloto village to pray for people's safety during the festive season when they travel on the road.

The service was organised by Ikwekwezi FM and was also attended by church leaders from various denominations.

Community and church leaders gathered for prayers at several spots on the road.

The community believes that prayers will help reduce accidents in the area.

Mgidi, who has two children, said her husband's car was hit by a taxi when the driver lost control of his vehicle.

"His car rolled and he died on the spot. Life is very difficult without him. He was the breadwinner and provided for the children."

Ikwekwezi station manager Philip Mahlangu asked people to have patience on the road.
