Soweto man bust over Rea Vaya robbery

Police caught him pointing a firearm at a cashier who was sitting inside the kiosk at the bus station

A man was caught trying to rob a Rea Vaya kiosk at gunpoint in Soweto on Friday, said Johannesburg metro police.

“[We] found him pointing a firearm at a cashier who was sitting inside the kiosk at the bus station along Chris Hani road,” said Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

The man was arrested and would appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of attempted armed robbery and pointing a firearm, Minnaar said.
