Cops foil plot to kill sister over inheritance

A woman who allegedly hired a hitman to kill her boyfriend’s sister, was arrested in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said

Colonel Vincent Mdunge said she was arrested along with two men — a hitman and his accomplice, on Friday morning

“Their arrest came as a result of an investigation into a report police received about a plot to kill a 27-year-old woman from Newlands East,” he said.

It was alleged that the 41-year-old woman wanted the sister dead because she wanted the inheritance.

The siblings’ parents had left money, a house and vehicles in the sister’s name after they died.

Mdunge said the woman knew that her boyfriend would be the beneficiary if his sister was killed.

“She hired a hitman from uMlazi whom she paid R1,000.”

The hitman was expected to receive an additional payment of R4,000 after the execution.

The 23-year-old hitman was arrested along with his accomplice at the Suncoast Casino after meeting with the sister.

The sister was meant to be killed while the two men were driving her home.

The woman was later arrested at the home she shares with her boyfriend and his sister in Newlands East.

The three would appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday to faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
