EIGHT people died and 22 others were injured when two trucks collided near Gouda in the Western Cape yesterday, provincial traffic management said.
Traffic chief Kenny Afrika said the trucks collided between Saron and Gouda about 7am.
An earth-mover then crashed into one truck, breaking loose its bed carrying 45 people. It went over the railings onto a riverbank.
The most seriously injured were transported by helicopter to Cape Town.
