Escapee re-arrested

A MAN who escaped from holding cells in George was rearrested at his home yesterday, Western Cape police said.

He was taken into custody in Lawaaikamp at 6am and charged with escape from lawful custody in addition to an original charge of attempted murder, Captain Bernadine Steyn said.

He apparently escaped from the Conville police station on Tuesday morning with another man. He was being held for allegedly shooting and assaulting a man in Borcherds at the weekend.

His accomplice, arrested on Wednesday, was bust for theft and possession of tik. Both men will appear in Thembalethu magistrate's court today.
