HUNDREDS of angry residents of Mulati village near Tzaneen, Limpopo, picketed outside the Ritavi Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The angry residents were demanding that a policeman accused of killing his wife last Friday morning be denied bail.

Constable Dicky Mashaba, 33, was remanded in custody and his case postponed to November 21.

It is alleged that Mashaba shot his wife in the early hours of Friday morning after a heated argument at their home in Mulati village.

Only a few of the angry residents were allowed into the small courtroom.

The group outside the courtroom sang and chanted slogans, while demanding that the alleged killer cop should not be granted bail.

The residents threatened to take the law into their own hands if the suspect was granted bail.

A Mpumalanga police source said Mashaba was arrested a few kilometres outside Nelspruit on Saturday.

At the time of the alleged shooting Mashaba was working at the Nelspruit International Airport in Mpumalanga.
