Wauchope's ashes to be scattered in Soweto

THE body of Black Consciousness Movement and Azapo stalwart George Wauchope will be cremated on Wednesday next week in Britain, it was announced at his memorial service last night.

Family spokesperson Vuyo Wauchope told hundreds of mourners at the St Hilda Anglican Church in Senaoane, Soweto, that the cremation will take place at 11.30am in Birmingham.

He said his ashes will be scattered at Klipspruit River near Dlamini, Soweto, on the day the family returns from England.

Wauchope died in exile last week after losing a five-year battle with cancer.

He left SA for exile in 1985 after the internecine in townships involving Azapo and the then ANC-aligned United Democratic Front. He went to Zimbabwe where he became an Anglican church priest and was latter posted to Botswana where he was diagnosed with cancer.
