Judgment delay

JUDGMENT has been delayed in the trial of school caretaker Gerhard Sippel, accused of strangling a young teacher with a rope and pulverising her skull.

The 49-year-old Sippel, a German citizen, has denied guilt in the high court in Pretoria to murdering 28-year-old Grade 2 teacher Ina Halfter, whose half-naked body was found in her locked Pretoria flat on April 15 2009.

The state alleges he killed her after she broke up with him and said she might be pregnant with her ex-boyfriend's baby.
