Robbers arrested in Tembisa

The men could be linked to armed robberies, hijackings and house robberies in the   Kempton Park, Tembisa and Pretoria

Five people were arrested for alleged possession of stolen property and an unlicensed firearm, Gauteng police said on Friday.

“The group, aged between 20 and 32, were suspected to be involved in following people from the banks after they had withdrawn large sums of money,” Lieutenant Tshisikhawe Ndou said.

“It was discovered that the vehicle had been hijacked in Midrand  area last month and the suspect who was the driver of the vehicle was arrested.”    

Investigations led to the arrest of another four men later on Thursday night.

Police recovered an unlicensed firearm, a home theatre system, cellphones, a laptop, a plasma television, wallets and bedding, he said.

The men could be linked to armed robberies, hijackings and house robberies in the   Kempton Park, Tembisa and Pretoria.

The men were expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of armed robbery, hijacking, possession of stolen property, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
