Search for missing, pregnant teen

VEREENIGING police were yesterday still looking for an 18-year-old pregnant teenager who is believed to have been kidnapped.

Neo Motau was last seen on Sunday afternoon by her mother Patricia.

Her boyfriend Mokete Motaung said Neo, who is eight months pregnant, is expecting twins.

Motaung, 21, said he was at work on Sunday and had switched off his cellphone as the battery was low.

"When I switched it on at about 6pm, I received a message from Neo saying that she had been kidnapped by two unknown men. She said she was afraid and did not know who the men were," said Motaung.

After hearing the shocking message, he immediately called Neo's mother.

Neo's father, Lerata Motau, said: "My wife told me that Motaung called and informed her that our daughter had been kidnapped.

"My wife said she last saw Neo at about 5pm when she went to buy airtime at a local shop."

Both Motau and Motaung's families then informed the police, who started searching for her.

Motaung said they spent Sunday night searching for her at various private and government hospitals and clinics across the Vaal.

"We have not slept at all. We have even searched for her in bushes and also went to the nearby Vaal River. We don't know what could be the reason for her disappearance," said Motaung.

A security guard, Joseph Machete, said he saw Neo passing near his place of employment and also noticed a blue Toyota Corolla parking near his workplace.

"I did not see them abducting her, but I am sure that those people are responsible for her disappearance," said Machete.

Police spokesperson Constable Sonopo Tikoane said they have opened a kidnapping case.

"Our members are working hard to find her."
