ANCYL's Moswane may face fraud probe

LIMPOPO ANC Youth League chairperson Frans Moswane has finally succumbed to pressure and resigned from his position in the Sekhukhune district municipality.

Moswane, an ally of ANCYL president Julius Malema, has been under tremendous pressure to relinquish his position as the municipality's communications officer after his election as ANCYL chairperson.

His resignation comes after allegations that he had been earning a R35,000 a month salary since June last year without setting foot at the municipal offices, apparently due to his "political commitments".

Municipal spokesperson Willie Mosoma confirmed Mosoma's resignation yesterday. He said the municipality was considering charging Moswane with fraud.

He said a municipal meeting had been scheduled for today where the matter would be discussed.

Moswane has since joined the Limpopo Youth Commission as caretaker chairperson in place of Rodgers Tshivhase, whose contract was not renewed.

Commission chief executive Khomotjo Malatji confirmed that Moswane joined the organisation yesterday.

"Yes, it is true that Frans Moswane has joined the commission as caretaker chairperson," Malatji said.

Moswane is not new to controversy. In 2007 he was accused of drawing two salaries at the same time: R11000 a month from the Limpopo department of economic development, environment and tourism and another from the Sekhukhune district municipality.
