Grudge encounters dominate fight bill
Award-winning boxing promoter Pat Molefe is giving the fight public what it wants - quality fights.
His matchmaker, David Rabothapi, has compiled an evenly matched six-bout programme at Unisa Conference hall in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg, on April 25.
Rabothapi will feature top name fighters such as Anthony "Blue Jaguar" Tshehla, Kgotla "Bang Bang" Baeti, Godfrey "The Punisher" Nzimande, Patrick "Mad Max" Masango as well as heavyweight hopefuls Bully "Bulldozer" Muravha and Steve Castle in this development tournament.
Three of the fights will be grudge fights - the lightweight encounter between Tshehla and Baeti, the junior lightweight bout between Nzimande and Masango as well as the heavyweight clash between Muravha and Castle.
The first fight between Tshehla, the former SA, All Africa and WBC international featherweight and WBA International lightweight holder, and Baeti, a knockout specialist from Botswana, was declared a technical draw in 2007.
They clashed heads accidentally in the first round and Baeti sustained a bad cut that bled profusely, prompting a stoppage.
Nzimade drew with Masango over four rounds in 2005 while Muravha and Castle shared the spoils in their four-rounder last year.
These heavyweight hopefuls are still on a high after recent victories over Basil Ray and Robbie Lombard respectively.
This tournament is bankrolled by Fair Price Furnishers and Appliances who are giving away 50 aisle tickets, and five VIP tickets. The number to phone is 083-338-6451.
Diners in this box-and-dine are in for a treat.
