Lamontville Golden Arrows and Free State Stars produced exciting football in a four-goal thriller played at Umlazi's King Zwelithini stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Three goals were scored in the opening 11 minutes of this Absa Premiership match.

The home team were the first to find their rhythm, and nearly punished Stars when the in-form Abia Nale beat his marker, Mbuyiselo Sambo before laying the ball for Mozambican Muaricio Pequenino, but a good interception by Ruben Cloete saved Stars in the third minute.

But it did not take long thereafter for Abafana Bes'thende to show their dominance when Bafana Bafana midfielder Kagiso Dikgacoi put his side ahead with a flick-on from a long throw by Joseph Musonda three minutes later.

But Arrows' celebrations were short-lived as workaholic Tsepo Mashego equalized just four minutes later as he headed home from a cross by Thulasizwe Mbuyane.

And in one of the worst blunders of the match, Arrows goalkeeper Nkosana Maseko handed Ea Lla Koto a goal when he passed the ball to the unmarked Mbuyane, who passed it to Sthembiso Ngcobo to score in the 17th minute.

But the goal seemed to spur the home team on as they went on the offensive, attacking from all directions.

Their efforts were nearly rewarded in the 28th minute when Thokozani Mshengu's shot went narrowly wide after slick inter-passing between a number of Arrows players.

Stars, in the meantime, were playing a tactical game, always trying to catch Arrows on the counter and this nearly worked for them minutes before the interval but Mbuyane's attempt was well saved by Maseko.

The equaliser finally came via the head of Pequenino from a cross into e the box by Mshengu.
