FRESH from scooping Record of the Year, Group of the Year and Best Dance Album awards at the South African Music Awards, local group Mi Casa has accomplished yet another milestone.

The group - comprising club DJ and producer Dr Duda, guitarist and vocalist J'Something and Trumpeter Mo-T - will record a song with American R&B and Grammy award-winner John Legend.

This is the first time Legend will work with SA artists.

Mi Casa's J'Something told Sowetan the deal was sealed by Metro FM's T-bo Touch.

"We are ecstatic about this. It is our dream come true. John Legend is one of our music heroes. The recording will go a long way in marketing local talent overseas," he said.

J'Something added that the song would be released some time before the end of the year. He said the song has not yet been given a title.

The latest opportunity comes while the group is busy recording their own album.

Mi Casa incorporates soulful vocals, guitar picks and keys topped with the sound of a trumpet.

The group will also feature Legend at an exclusive and intimate Woman's Day celebration next month.

According to T-bo Touch, the show, which will have a limited seating capacity of 4000, will take place at the Sandton Convention City and will include Idols judge Unathi Msengana.

General tickets will cost R900, VIP R1400 while the more exclusive VVIP tickets/hospitality packages are available at R1750.
