Fans go crazy over Bold and the Beautiful idols

THE Pavilion Shopping Centre in Durban was yesterday buzzing with fans as the cast of the Bold and the Beautiful mingled with locals and signed autographs.

Security guards had their hands full as they blocked the excited fans who wanted to go onto the stage to shake the hands of their favourite soapie stars.

An elderly man, said to be in his late 70s, was hurt when he was pushed off his wheelchair by over-enthusiastic fans. The burn wounds on his legs that had started to heal began to bleed when he was pushed. He was treated by paramedics.

The huge crowd went crazy at the sight of Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester), Brandon Beemer (Owen Knight) and Jack Wagner (Nick Marone).

Eunice Ndaba of Hammersdale said she was a loyal fan and had been watching the soapie for 20 years.

"I had to take my lunch break later in the day because this is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity. I wanted to see them in the flesh and maybe get an autograph," an excited Ndaba said.

Siza Nene, another fan, said she got "addicted" to the soapie years ago when she used to watch it with her grandmother.

"Back in the day there was not too much kissing on television except on The Bold and the Beautiful. Whenever there was a kissing or lovemaking scene, I used to close my eyes in embarrassment," she said, laughing.

The soapie has been on the small screen for the past 24 years.
