Contraband cigarettes seized in Malvern

Over R1 million worth of contraband cigarettes were seized in Malvern at the weekend, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.

Police followed up on information on Friday and made the find at a house, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

The 92 boxes of cigarettes had an estimated street value of R1.3m.

A 59-year-old man was arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes, and is due to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Monday.
