Poet bed-ridden after suffering severe stroke

Revered poet S'khathele Khoza, popularly known as "Limpopo's Own People's Poet", is bedridden after a stroke.

Khoza, who shot to fame when he featured in Limpopo kwasa kwasa king Malo-A-Botsheba's songs that praised ANC President Jacob Zuma and the party's treasurer general Zweli Mkhize, suffered a stroke and collapsed at his home in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, about two months ago.

Khoza suffered paralysis in his right leg and hand and could not walk. He was rushed to a local health centre, where he was treated, and was sent back home to recuperate under the care of his family.

News of Khoza's ailment was revealed by Malo-A-Botsheba, who donated R10000 to the musician when he visited him last week. "I can confirm that I visited Skhathele in Bushbuckridge where I donated money to help him with his medical bills as he does not have medical aid."

Malo-A-Botsheba, whose real name is Steve Sefofa, appealed to politicians to help Khoza with his medical bills.

"We are asking them and everybody to help him so that he could recover and start working for his family," he said.

Khoza, who struggled to speak, confirmed that he was recovering at his home after suffering from a stroke.

"I'm glad that I'm responding well to medication. I also want to thank the people who prayed for me," he said.
