KwaZulu-Natal’s election results are expected to captured‚ audited and scanned by 10pm on Thursday.

“Our projection is completion this evening‚” said provincial electoral officer Mawethu Mosery.

By 5pm on Thursday electoral officers in the province had 1147 results of results to capture electronically.

From all municipalities except eThekwini‚ three sets of results are due: ward results‚ proportional representation results and district municipality results.

In Durban there are only two sets (proportional representation and ward councillors) as there is no district municipality.

“Our total is 13510 [sets of results]. We have captured 12363. The outstanding results to be captured are 427 in eThekwini‚ 25 in Umdoni‚ 182 in Hibiscus Coast‚ 163 in Msunduzi‚ 191 in Ladysmith‚ 50 in Umhlatuze and 50 in uMthonjaneni‚” Mosery said.

He said 11962 results had already been audited.

“There were a number of queries from our auditors but that is normal. They were easy resolved‚” he said.

Mosery said the release of the eThekwini results on the IEC website was delayed at the scanning stage.

“The process is in three stages. We have capturing‚ auditing and then scanning of the images. We were delayed at the scanning stage and it was just that our work schedule was delayed‚” he said.

Earlier‚ frustrated opposition political parties were demanding answers from Mosery when Durban’s results failed to appear online by 3pm. The results were uploaded before 4pm. — TMG Digital/The Times
