ROBERTO Muluana, known as Choppa, is about to gyrate his way back to the top of the Mzansi music industry.

After Margarida and Dombolo brought him fame in the early 2000s, Choppa went on international tours to promote his music.

He is promising to bounce back with "new, fresh and energetic sounds".

His new single, Chikita, will debut on MetroFM tomorrow. It will be available for 10000 free downloads before the end of the week.

"I'm in my early 40s now, but you will not believe the amount of energy and business acumen I have built up over the last few years. My mind and body know no age."

Muluana left South Africa in 2008 to live and perform in Brazil and other countries.

"The music industry in South Africa had taken a liking to slower Afro-pop songs that didn't speak to my performance style.

"But it's my time now. I still have a lot of fire inside me, and this is the right time for me to come back."

Previously with Ghetto Ruff Records, Choppa is now part of Hit House Records, owned by singer and producer Robbie Malinga and Mjakes Thebe.

He is "beefing up my business affairs" this time, after appointing publicist Sarah Setlaelo, who was responsible for singer Kelly Khumalo.

His upcoming album will feature Khumalo, who is expecting a child by Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.
