DYNAMIC actress Hlubi Mboya is making a comeback after a three-year TV hiatus.

Made famous by her decade-long role as the HIV-positive Nandipha Sithole on Isidingo, Mboya left the soapie in search of new and more challenging horizons.

Now, her fans will be able to see her again on their small screens when she stars in SABC1's new sitcom, Mfolozi Street.

"I have been very busy growing my film career. I'm doing some upcoming TV work and seriously committing myself to a challenging fitness routine that has exposed me to a world of opportunities," said Mboya (36).

The former Strictly Come Dancing 2008contestant is part of the cast of a local film called Dorah's Peace, now being shot in Joburg.

"I'm really enjoying being part of a growing film industry in this country."

Mboya also plays the only female gang member in the heist film iNumber Number, which has received good reviews at film festivals around the world.

The movie, which has been picked for a Hollywood remake, will be opening in cinemas next month.

While she has kept a low profile for the past three years, Mboya has not been in holiday mode.

She has, among other things, taken a keen interest in athletics, transforming her body into a lean, athletic machine.

"If you know me, you will know that I don't do half-measures, I go hard," said the husky-voiced star.

A keen cyclist, Mboya has also taken part in several races.

"I'm most proud of being the only black person and woman in my team chosen to race at the Absa Cape Epic, which is known as the the toughest cycling race in the country.

"We will be donating all money raised from the race to the Diepsloot Biking Academy, which teaches young girls bike riding skills."
