ANC leader ditches party to fight for Christ

A SENIOR Eastern Cape ANC leader has formed a new political party, the Saturday Dispatch Online has reported.

MEC Mkhangeli Matomela - one of the ANC's longest-serving members of the provincial legislature - launched The Kingdom Governance Movement on Thursday in Bhisho, according to the report.

Matomela said his new party would soon be registered with the Independent Electoral Commission and would contest the general election next year.

"I feel limited in the ANC and have taken a decision not to campaign for it for the upcoming elections but for the prophetic kingdom politics," Matomela was quoted as saying.

Matomela is chairman of the finance committee in the provincial legislature and a member of portfolio committees, including housing, and of the standing committee on public accounts.

According to the report he said he had been working on the formation of the new party for about a year.

He called the ANC, Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, the South African Council of Churches and the World Council of Churches part of a global "anti-Christ" movement, according to the report.
