Australian taxi driver returns lost $104,000, gets $500 reward

Fellow Australians were marveling Friday at the honesty of a Melbourne taxi driver who returned 110,000 Australian dollars (104,000 US dollars) in cash left in his cab by gamblers on their way to the city's Crown casino.

Lakhwinder Singh Dhillon did not hesitate in driving back to the casino with the 11 wads of notes.

"When I gave them the bag they gave me 500 dollars and said 'This is your prize. You're a very honest man. We've never seen an honest man like you. You are too good'."

Crown spokesman Gary O'Neill told the Herald Sun the men were casino regulars and the honest cabbie was in for another reward: dinner for two and a free night's accommodation at the Crown.
