A North West woman accused of burning a Maboloka teenager to death three weeks ago was high on drugs, the Brits Magistrate's Court heard yesterday.

Sharon Twala, 23, gave chilling testimony before magistrate Moses Maswangwane. She said she was lured into a scheme that left Boitumelo Dlamini's charred body in the veld in Klipgat, North West, on June 18.

Twala said her friend, Cynthia Mosupi, 24, the woman accused of setting Dlamini alight, had smoked dagga with her boyfriend Victor Pilane, 27, before the incident.

Twala, Mosupi and Koketso Moyo, 22, are charged with murder and kidnapping.

Pilane turned state witness after submitting a cellphone video clip of the incident . He is out on R2000 bail and will appear in court on August 26.

Twala said she, Moyo and Mosupi went to Eletsa Secondary School in Brits where Dlamini was a pupil. On arrival Mosupi called Dlamini and told her that she wanted to see her.

While waiting for Dlamini, Pilane arrived and Mosupi went into his car where they smoked dagga, Twala testified. She said they then drove with Dlamini towards Klipgat in Moyo's parents' car.

"On arrival, Cynthia opened the door and dragged Boitumelo out of the car. She asked her if she was involved with her ex-boyfriend, Tokelo Makalepho," Twala said. The two have a 19-month-old child.

"Boitumelo confirmed the affair. Cynthia slapped her in the face, twisted her hand and poured petrol on her. Boitumelo kept on apologising and promising to end the relationship with Tokelo. Boitumelo fell to the ground. Cynthia continued to beat her. I called Koketso to help and asked Pilane why he was taking a video instead of stopping the fight. I then heard the sound of fire. When I turned around, I saw Boitumelo in flames. Cynthia was also on fire. She ran to her boyfriend for help," Twala said.

Twala said after Mosupi and Pilane left, she and Moyo reported the incident to police.

Moyo, who was driving the car, said when she picked up Mosupi at a filling station where she had bought petrol, she did not know that she was planning to douse Dlamini with it. The two pleaded not guilty. Mosupi, who suffered burn wounds to her legs, is still in hospital. The accused remain in custody.
