Dog hanged at scandal-hit school
A dog was yesterday found hanged from the locked gates of the Mpumalanga high school that has recently been hit by a sex scandal in which teachers are accused of having sex with students.
Several teenaged girls have fallen pregnant and one teacher has been arrested.
The dog found at the gate had apparently been stabbed.
Local ANC Youth League chairman Jeffery Mashego was arrested by the Mhala police when he questioned why they were removing the dead dog.
Yesterday afternoon protesters gathered at a soccer ground near the school to demand the removal of the principal, Thomas Khoza.
Khoza said: "They claim that I had sex with students and want me gone, but if that were true they would give the girls' names to the department of education. The dead dog is a sign they will kill me too."
The protesters said they had the names of three teenaged students who claimed to have had sex with the principal.
