Pitso cherishes clash with pal Malesela

Pitso Mosimane, pictured, yesterday welcomed Mamelodi Sundowns' MTN8 semifinal draw against Chippa United, insisting he was expecting a great two-legged tie.

Top 8 debutants Chippa play Sundowns in the semis next month, while Wits will travel to Cape Town City in the other last-four clash.

The draw was conducted immediately after Sundowns beat SuperSport in the last quarterfinal at Loftus yesterday. "It's a good team," Mosimane said of Chippa, who beat Platinum Stars on Saturday.

"They have a good coach in Dan Malesela. They pass the ball around. We can't complain about the draw. The good thing is that we are playing the first leg away. And the pitch there is flat, so we should have a good game. We'll have to play well over two legs."

It should be an interesting battle between Chippa coach Malesela and Mosimane, who is only missing the MTN8 trophy to complete his puzzle of domestic trophies since joining the Chloorkop outfit.

Mosimane last won the competition while coaching SuperSport in 2004.

Malesela would certainly love to get a victory against a side he played for and even worked at, in the junior ranks, after retiring as a footballer.

The first-leg semis will be played on September 10 and 11, with the second taking place the following week.

However, Sundowns will almost certainly engage the PSL about their schedule, as they face a trip to Zambia for the first leg of the CAF Champions League semifinal against Zesco on September 16.
