Mathoho could be lost to Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs defender Mulomowandau "Tower" Mathoho's agent is convinced that the Bafana Bafana star is playing his last season with the club.

Tim Sukazi said Chiefs have assured them that Mathoho will be free to leave at the end of this season if there is interest from Europe.

Mathoho was previously linked with a move to Belgium, specifically with KV Oostende, but nothing materialised with that mooted move.

"You [have to] understand that there will always be interest in an international player who is playing regularly for our senior national team.

"There have always been ongoing enquiries about the player and it is a pity he didn't go at the end of last season," Sukazi said.

"The main cause was that Chiefs were asking us that he shouldn't go, and that he should play for them for one more season. We were not so happy about that and in the end he got injured.

"We are now a few months before the end of the season and he would be here, unless there is a dramatic opportunity that arises.

"There are teams from Netherlands and Belgium that enquired about him, but I won't name the clubs.

"Chiefs' undertaking that they are willing to let him go is hand-in- hand with our intentions.

"At 25, we believe that he is ready for Europe and he has shown a lot of signs of maturity.

"He's played very well for both club and country . Mathoho feels ready for Europe now."
