Sundowns coach unhappy with Zongo’s showboating

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has expressed his unhappiness over Platinum Star talented midfielder Masibusane Zongo winning a man-of-the-match awards on Saturday night.

Stylish Zongo added sparks to a boring Absa Premiership clash in Rustenburg with his showboating skills but Mosimane was not impressed.

He believes that the PSL is setting a bad precedence by awarding showboating players the Man-of-the-Match accolade.

"I like the boy Zongo, he's a good footballer, he's very exciting and I've got nothing personal against him, but if he has to win Man-of-the-Match for this game, really, I don't know who chooses the Man-of-the-Match," Mosimane quoted saying on PSL website.

"Because we are going to promote tricks only, without precision. Look at Thabo Rakhale of Orlando Pirates, very good, he can dribble and he can finish. That's Lionel Messi, that's Neymar.

"But if you give Man of the Matches, you need to look at how many number of entries he made into the box, how many goals he tried to score, how many crosses he made, so those are the issues, otherwise we are going to kill our football," Mosimane said.

Dikwena head coch Cavin Johnson did not entertain Mosimane’s remarks about Zongo and said “that’s his opinion”.

"I don't want to respond to what Pitso said. That's his opinion. I don't think it’s a circus, but rather a way to unlock defences," said Johnson.
