Rebuilding Usuthu wait on pay cuts

Amazulu are waiting to hear which players will be willing to take a pay cut to play in the National First Division before they finalise their squad for next season.

Usuthu need to rebuild their squad for the second division next year to take into account the NFD rule that states they must start each game with five players aged 23 or younger in the team.

Team manager Japhet Zwane said the club would try to hold on to those players already under contract, but that for others whose deals expired at the end of the last campaign it was a waiting game.

Also, the higher earners could be allowed to leave if the right offer comes in, with the club having already told Bafana Bafana left-back Marc van Heerden they will listen to offers.

Striker Bongani Ndulula is set to complete his long-awaited move to Kaizer Chiefs as well.

"It is difficult to answer and say that we are well on track at the moment, because we don't know who are some of the players that will be leaving the club," Zwane said on the club's website.

"We did have a meeting with the players and gave out offers and it is up to them to decide now."
