A stunning 2-0 win away over AS Kaloum of Guinea on Friday night means Orlando Pirates can now start to prepare for the group phase of CAF Confederation Cup.

Pirates' success in the continental competition comes at something of a cost as it effectively means they will have to curtail their holidays, come back early for pre-season and face a tough first half of the next campaign trying to fulfil all their fixtures.

Goals from Thamsanqa Gabuza and Oupa Manyisa gave them the win at the Stade Modido Keita in Bamako, Mali.

Pirates will go off on holiday after this weekend's second leg tie with AS Kaloum but will have to be back after a brief break because the group phase starts on the weekend of June 26-28.

Bucs start away in Congo or Nigeria between June 26-28, against the winner of the tie between AC Leopards - who they met in the African Champions League two years ago - or Warri Wolves.

Also in their group will be the winners of the fourth-round ties between Zamalek and SM Sanga Balende and between Asec Abidjan or CS Sfaxien.

The other group matches are set for the weekend of July 10-12, July 24-26, August 7-9, August 21-23 and September 11-13.

It means the Carling Black Label Cup against Kaizer Chiefs on July 25 might have to be moved and Pirates will need to juggle their commitments in the Confederation Cup with the start of the new league season and participation in the MTN8.
