Orlando Pirates' display against Mpumalanga Black Aces did not please coach Eric Tinkler, but at least he welcomed the three points for his charges. The Buccaneers won the tie 2-1.

"We were not good and we looked lethargic tonight. Our movement was not good," said Tinkler afterwards.

But he was happy that they managed to win even though "we did not play well".

Tinkler was pleased with substitute Thabo Rakhale's goal, which he described as "fantastic".

"I told Rakhale when he came on that he will be our game changer and I'm happy that he scored that fantastic goal," Tinkler said.

AmaZayoni stand-in coach Jacob "Cellular" Sakala was not disappointed with his side's performance despite the setback. "Luck was not our side tonight," said Sakala.

Pirates were made to dig deep for the win as they stretched their unbeaten run in the league to 11 matches under Tinkler.

Captain Oupa Manyisa scored from the spot on the stroke of half time and Thabo Rakhale produced a moment of brilliance in the second period to score his first goal for the club.

Tendai Ndoro pulled one back for Aces from the spot after Thabo Matlaba brought down Aubrey Ngoma in the box 15 minutes from time.

It was a nervy finish for Pirates, but they held on for the win.
