THULANI Serero stands to make a personal bounty of more than R4-million when his Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam win the Dutch league as expected by the end of the month.

Players who have started in 25 league matches this season are set to receive a full bonus of ?300000 for the title success, Dutch newspapers said, the equivalent of R4.353-million at yesterday's exchange rate.

Serero has been one of the mainstays of the Dutch club's bid to win a fourth successive title this season after finally bedding down a regular first-team berth.

He has played in 27 league matches this season - 24 of them in the starting line-up.

He needs one more start to make sure he gets the full bonus, but that should be no problem with two matches left to play in the campaign.

Serero made just seven starts in his first season at Ajax and nine in his second, and that was not enough for him to be granted a medal.

But this year he has been central to the side's success and can claim to have played a big role in bringing the league title to Amsterdam when it arrives, as all are predicting.

He scored in Sunday's 3-2 win over ADO Den Haag and made the decisive goal.

The 24-year-old, who has also returned to the Bafana Bafana fold, already earns a minimum salary of some R6-million a year.

The Dutch league has a rule that says the highest minimum wage must be paid to non-European Union passport holders.

This is to stop clubs from buying average foreign players. It is just over ?400000 a year.

Ajax can secure a fourth successive title with just one point from their next two league games.

They play in the Dutch Cup final this weekend against Kamohelo Mokotjo's PEC Zwolle, but are back on the championship trail on April 27 away at Heracles Almelo.
