PLATINUM Stars leave for Botswana today where they will play a series of pre-season matches, including a testimonial game for Zebras legend Dipsy Selolwane on Saturday.

Dikwena, who have long had ties with Botswana, will make the short journey from their Rustenburg base to Gaborone, where they will camp as they continue to work towards the start of the new PSL season.

They will play the high-profile testimonial match against Gaborone United at the National Stadium.

"We are very much on track with where we want to be in our pre-season. The players have responded to the programme we set them and we are very pleased with the attitude and commitment they are showing," Stars coach Allan Freese said.

"Now we take the next step forward with our trip to Botswana, which is a chance to camp away from home and will be very beneficial in integrating the new players into the team."

Selolwane left University of Pretoria at the end of the last campaign and, after briefly flirting with taking up a coaching role at the club, he has instead decided to focus on his business interests.

The 36-year-old's career began at Gaborone United.
