AYANDA Patosi enjoyed a first day of pre-season with his Belgian side Lokeren yesterday - but his future at the club is no clearer.

Patosi, who had an eventful time during his two-week break from football in Cape Town, where he survived a hijacking unscathed, has been widely tipped to leave Lokeren in this transfer window - having expressed that desire on many occasions.

But he says while he remains under contract at the club, he will give his best for the side and seems genuinely pleased to be back.

Lokeren want to make a fast start to this year's pre-season as they take part in the Uefa Europa League, a reward for winning the Belgian Cup last year.

They only enter the competition in the play-off round, which takes place in August.

But coach Peter Maes wants the players in top shape early to ensure they are up to the demands of the additional matches in the competition, as well as prepare for the Belgian Super Cup against Anderlecht on July 20.
