FORMER Bafana Bafana striker Thembinkosi "Terror" Fanteni has left Bloemfontein Celtic after failing to secure a contract with the Free State side.

Fanteni was one of the three high-profile strikers who were on trial with Phunya SeleSele, hoping to impress coach Clinton Larsen. Diyo Sibisi and Sibusiso Vilakazi also failed to secure contracts at the Telkom Knockout champions, where they also spent three weeks.

Fanteni went to Celtic after he was released by Wits, while Vilakazi was released by AmaZulu at the end of last season.

The well-travelled Sibisi played for Mpumalanga Black Aces in the National First Division last season.

The three players went to Celtic after Larsen indicated that he was searching for a striker.

"The trio are no longer training with us. The technical staff did not say anything to us," said club CEO Khumbulani Konco, who added that he was delighted that they had finally signed defender Clayton Daniels.

The 29-year-old Daniels left Mamelodi Sundowns to join Celtic where he is hoping to get enough game time. He only played 30 games for Sundowns after joining them from Ajax Cape Town in 2011.

Daniels was also linked with the University of Pretoria and Ajax.

"We are delighted that finally we have reached an agreement. Clayton is a great player and we are convinced he will add value to the team," said Konco.

Daniels is expected to make his debut for Celtic against AmaTuks in an Absa Premiership match at Tuks Stadium on Saturday.
