KAIZER Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter will not be caught up in the transfer window mayhem when the registration period closes tomorrow.

Instead, the Englishman will be working on his side's disappointing first-half performances so far this season ahead of a tough clash against SuperSport United in Atteridgeville on Saturday.

Baxter also reckons an away game, far from the pressure of playing in their own backyard, could help Chiefs find their feet as they attempt to defend their Absa Premiership title.

Amakhosi were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Moroka Swallows in Tuesday night's league match at FNB Stadium - three days after losing to rivals Orlando Pirates at the same venue in the MTN8 semifinal first leg encounter.

Baxter was riled by Amakhosi's first 45 minutes in both games, and did not hold back when asked if he got the reaction he wanted from his players after the defeat to Pirates.

He said: "The second half was better, in similar fashion to when we played against Pirates, but it was characterised by ill-disciplined defending. Morgan [Gould] and Tefu [Mashamaite] have looked comfortable together, but against Swallows they were a little bit more exposed than what we are used to."

Chiefs have played four matches to date, narrowly winning their league opener against rookies Mpumalanga Black Aces on August 2 by a solitary goal and dumping University of Pretoria out of the MTN8 quarterfinals with an impressive 3-0 scoreline.

While Baxter is worried about his rearguard, he praised his front men - despite the draw against Swallows
