CAN Lerato Chabangu make it three goals in three matches as the third round of the Premier Soccer League gets under way this weekend?

Moroka Swallows host newly promoted Mpumalanga Black Aces tonight at Dobsonville Stadium and will be hoping to maintain their undefeated streak so far in the league.

The Dube Birds beat University of Pretoria 1-0 in their opening game before a three-week break. They resumed league action by playing to a 1-1 stalemate against defending league champions Kaizer Chiefs.

Both Swallows goals so far have been scored by Chabangu.

The Bafana Bafana winger shares the lead on the scorers' chart with three other players - Bernard Parker, Mame Niang and Joel Mogorosi, all on two goals.

If Chabangu continues his scoring feat, he stands a chance of becoming the third consecutive Birds player to walk away with the Golden Boot award at the end of the season, following in the footsteps of Siyabonga Nomvethe and Katlego Mashego.

Although Zeca Marques' charges are yet to taste defeat this season, a victory will not be handed to them on a silver platter by the league rookies.

AmaZayoni, coached by Clive Barker, have shown some nerves of steel so far. In the opening match of the season, they held their own against Chiefs - losing only 1-0.

On Tuesday Aces collected their first three points when they beat AmaZulu 2-1.

  • Steve Barker's University of Pretoria, who find themselves lying at the foot of the table after two consecutive defeats, will be in search of their first win when they face Maritzburg United at Harry Gwala Stadium at 8.15pm tomorrow.

United have had mixed fortunes so far - a win over rookies Polokwane City and a 2-0 reverse to Free State Stars on Wednesday night.
