AMAZULU's marquee signing S'thembiso Ngcobo says - without a hint of delusion - Usuthu have enough quality in their squad to win at least one trophy this season.
Ngcobo knows the quality he brings up front to the Durban side - accurate finishing, polished heading ability and threatening runs - but it is the rest of Craig Rosslee's ensemble that has impressed him.
The 29-year-old joined Usuthu on a season-long loan from defending Absa Premiership champions Kaizer Chiefs last month to form a union that, if successful, could be hugely beneficial to both club and player.
He played a supporting role in the Glamour Boys' league and Nedbank Cup double conquests last season but has a chance at a leading role in Usuthu's revival this season. The tall striker wants to re-establish himself as a top marksman while AmaZulu want to forage into the top eight.
Rosslee has recruited stingily but smartly, luring midfield hard man Letladi Madubanya from Bloemfontein Celtic, Aubrey Mathibe from Moroka Swallows and Namibian youngster Sadney UriKhob.
"There are some very good players and lots of youngsters, who add a lot of energy to the club. We can win silverware this season," Ngcobo said.
"That means my place in the starting line up is not guaranteed and it's up to the coach to decide. But I'm certain that I'll bring to the team my trademark skills. Slowly but surely I'll get back to my best.
"I'm not at my fittest yet because I started training with Usuthu quite late in the pre-season. But in less than two weeks, by the time we face Orlando Pirates on August 7, I'll be back to my sharpest."
Ngcobo admitted though that he didn't picture that he could pair with fellow marksman Bongani Ndulula up front as the two strikers' styles were too similar.
"Ndulula is a box striker and target man and so am I. There would have to be an attacking midfielder - your traditional number 10 - to play behind either of us in the hole just in front of the opposition's defence," he said.
"A lot will also depend on how quickly my teammates understand my strong points. Hopefully in the short time we have until the start of the season we can hone that understanding."
Ngcobo's predictions may be a bit ambitious considering the men in green narrowly avoided relegation last season but the striker is determined to give his home town supporters a lot to cheer about this season.
"I know that Usuthu fans will be looking upon me to bring quality into the setup but that won't put extra pressure on me because I've already made it my personal goal to bring joy to my home town fans."
