Ngele brushes aside talk of Pirates move

PLATINUM Stars midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele insists he is going nowhere in this transfer window amid speculation that he is a target of Orlando Pirates.

The Botswana international was arguably the find of the 2012-2013 PSL season, banging in 10 goals for the North West club as they narrowly missed out on the league title.

It led to speculation that Pirates are after the signature of the player, rumours that intensified when Floyd Mbele recently rejoined the Buccaneers. Mbele scouted Ngele in Botswana during his role as chairman at Stars and took him under his wing when he arrived in South Africa.

But the 22-year-old says he is only thinking about the new season with Dikwena and is determined to honour his contract, which runs until June 2015.

"I am only concentrating on Platinum Stars and I intend to honour my contract. I have not had a chance to discuss anything with my agent [Mike Makaab] and I cannot comment on any transfer speculation. My focus is to be in top gear once the season starts," Ngele told reporters.

The midfielder is now back in full training with the team having been given extra time off after starring in Botswana's 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers last month. He says despite the loss of coach Cavin Johnson to SuperSport United, the team can challenge for the title again this year.

"We have a strong squad here and we can mount another serious title challenge," he said.

Johnson said last season that if Ngele could "add some muscle" he believed he would have a good career in Europe.
