Orlando Pirates finally got their man yesterday.

Kermit Erasmus signed a three- year deal with the Soweto giants, club spokesman Mickey Modisane confirmed. No figures were mentioned, though it is no secret that he will not have come cheaply.

The 23 year-old former SuperSport United striker was due to be introduced to his new teammates yesterday afternoon and will be joining them at training this morning.

An obviously excited Modisane said: "He signed on the dotted line today [Tuesday] and we are over the moon with that.

"We all know what Kermit can offer and he probably will be part of the team that faces Kaizer Chiefs in the Black Label Cup on Saturday. He will also be registered for our CAF Champions League campaign as we look to add another star to our logo. We will now have one more space to register another player before the August 5 closing date."

SuperSport United's chairman Khulu Sibiya said: "Ja, it's a done deal, he's gone. The boy has been with us since the age of 11 and grew up here. We wish him all the best in life and career. But we have signed equally good and exciting players and I believe we will be there among the best and compete."

Modisane added that they believed Erasmus would strike up a good partnership with recently signed former Bloemfontein Celtic marksman Lennox Bacela.

Bacela played his first official game as a Buccaneer in their goalless Champions League Group A match against AC Leopards last weekend.

Modisane said he would like to appeal to the club's supporters to exercise patience as they attempt to further strengthen their squad.

"We have one more spot for the Champs League registration to fill and we are always on the lookout for quality players. We are looking forward to Saturday and urge our supporters to come in large numbers."

He said negotiations are still continuing with recently out-of-contract winger Tlou "Sox" Segolela.

"The talks were stalled by proposals from Tlou's side, which the chairman is looking into. He is training with the team and is an integral part of it as we value him very much. We are hopeful things will work out well."
