Diouf, Cale add muscle to United

SUPERSPORT United have the muscle of big centre-back Mor Diouf and forceful winger Franklin Cale available again for tomorrow night's Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Kickoff is at 8.15pm.

Diouf and Cale - also used in a left-back position recently - were the red card casualties of Matsatsantsa's 1-1 draw with nine-man Bidvest Wits at Lucas Moripe Stadium two weekends ago.

While that result, under the circumstances, was a fairly remarkable achievement by United, their string of draws this season has become a source of frustration for coach Gavin Hunt and his men.

Unbeaten United have won just once this season, a 3-0 victory over AmaZulu in Polokwane on September 15. They drew again on Tuesday night, this time 2-2 against second-last Chippa United at Athlone Stadium.

Matsatsantsa will be hoping a return to Peter Mokaba might result in another rare victory.

That will not be easy, though, against league leaders Chiefs, who bounced back from two straight draws with a 3-0 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows in midweek.

Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter knows his side cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal.

"We are coming up against a much organised side in SuperSport United who also remain unbeaten in the league and have been doing well in the Telkom Knockout," Baxter said. "They are difficult to break down and very organised in set- pieces."

United have reached the semifinals of the Telkom, where they will meet Sundowns on November 17.

Baxter welcomes back league top scorer Bernard Parker from injury. With Kingston Nkhatha and Lehlohonolo Majoro both scoring against Arrows, Baxter has a wealth of in-form strikers at his disposal, and Parker should start from the bench.

  • Also tomorrow night, Platinum Stars and Wits meet in a clash of two of the league's in-form teams at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg (3.30pm kickoff).
