Leopards not happy with Bennett

BLACK Leopards have lodged yet another complaint with the Premier Soccer League about the deployment of referee Daniel Bennett to their crucial games.

Shortly before their Telkom Knockout match against Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, Leopards officials approached the match commissioner to lodge a complaint.

According to Leopards general manager Sam Khaphathe the commissioner acknowledged their complaint.

Leopards crashed out of the tournament with a 2-0 loss to Bucs, a result which reinforced their belief that Bennett has it in for them.

"For the past four years Bennett has shown bias towards us in critical games. His decisions are mostly unfair towards us," said Khaphathe after the encounter.

"You have to look back to our days in the first division, our away promotional play-off game against Vasco da Gama in particular, for substance of truth to our suspicions.

"I'm not even going to mention the recent game against Kaizer Chiefs as it was clear for everyone to see the kind of calls he makes against us.

"It was the same referee in our play-off match against Bay United the season before last. Why him?

"Is he that special that he always has to officiate in our critical games?"

Khaphathe said they have written to the league before, who forwarded their letter to the South African Football Association, which is in charge of referees.

"All Safa did was to acknowledge receipt of the letter. That was their only response," said Khaphathe.

Lidoda Duvha fought hard against Pirates, but were let down by a poor defence and, to some extent, the loss of Thulani Ntshingila through a red card.

"I wouldn't like to comment on the red card as I'm not an official. However, I'd like to comment on our poor defence, which let in easy goals," said Leopards coach Sunday Chidzambwa.
