BOMBING out of the Nedbank Cup is a blessing in disguise for Jomo Cosmos, who will now channel all their energies into their fight to escape the dreaded chop.

"The focus will specifically be on the league," said owner-coach Jomo Sono, whose side were dumped out of the Cup by SuperSport United in Polokwane on Sunday.

"We were hoping to do well in both the league and Nedbank Cup, but we did not play well on Sunday. The league is more important for us than the Cup. Cosmos are not going anywhere. We are in the Premiership for good. We have been playing good football but the goals have been eluding us. That's something we are working on.

"We are also dealing with lapses in concentration. We have been conceding goals in the dying minutes of a game and this shows that we don't concentrate throughout the match."

Captain and first-choice goalkeeper Avril Phali is also adamant Ezenkosi will still be in the top flight next season.

"We are going to dig deeper into our reserves to ensure that Cosmos are not relegated, but I must say we will have to put up a big fight to win all our remaining league matches."

Cosmos's final battle to move away from the relegation zone gets under way tomorrow with a home match against Bloemfontein Celtic at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth at 7.30pm.

Sono's side have registered the 2010 Fifa World Cup match venue as their alternative ground, a move he said will also help them recruit more fans in the Eastern Cape.
