More from Maphepha

LIMPOPO Boxing Promotions, which hosted an 11-bout development tournament at the weekend, made a commitment that they will organise more such events in the area before the end of the year

The commitment was made by LBP managing director Josias Percy Maphepha after the tournament at Buffalo Inn, Polokwane, on Saturday.

"We want to thank the boxers and supporters who packed the venue to its rafters. This is a clear indication that people are thirsty to watch boxing tournaments on a regular basis. We are committed to bringing one more tournament in September and another in December. Our plan is to produce more professional boxers," Maphepha said.

Eight of the 11 bouts at the tournament did not go the distance as the boxers displayed their fitness and skills.

In the main bout, Khakhathi "Professor" Ramuntshi crushed Michael "Bonecrusher" Phiri on a TKO in the second round in the lightweight division.
