Treat for Bolton fans

THE Top Arena at Carnival City in Brakpan, east of Joburg, is expected to explode in love songs, R&B and soul when Michael Bolton and songbird Judith Sephuma take to the stage in two weeks time.

The show is almost sold out.

Sephuma, invited as guest performer on both nights, is sure to sing some songs from her new album called I am a Living Testimony, which will be released in September. She is sure to give a sampling of her rich repertoire that straddles African jazz, folklore and R&B.

Acclaimed American singer Bolton has until now kept his South African surprise guest a secret from concertgoers attending his shows at Carnival City's Big Top Arena in Brakpan on August 8 and August 9.

The talented Afro-jazz singer was first approached by Bolton to do a duet with him on a song titled Over The Rainbow.

Tight time schedules resulted in their having to record individual vocals in different countries, while technicians from their record label, Sony, merged the two tracks. However, the two stars now have the opportunity now to meet on stage and sing their as yet to be released duet.

Bolton is impressed by Sephuma's vocal exploits.

"Judith's voice and range is magnificent. What an honour to discover, on this amazing journey, such a pure voice coming from a beautiful, soulful place," Bolton said.

Sephuma's remarkable voice has become synonymous with the jazz genre.

She studied music at the University of Cape Town, graduating in 2000 with an Honours Degree in Jazz Performance, majoring in jazz singing.

With three solo albums under her belt and several awards to her name, Polokwane-born lass has won both local and international acclaim. She's is scheduled to release her fourth alumbum on September 5.
